WHAT IS A MARTINGALE COLLAR 

Martingale Collar, also called no-slip, half check or limited-slip collar, are a type of dog collar that provides more control than a typical flat collar to prevent dogs from backing or slipping out. They look a lot like a flat collar, but about a third of the length of the collar is actually a smaller loop of fabric with a D-ring attached.

The collar works by constricting when the dog pulls on the leash. Tension on the leash causes the smaller loop to tighten, which in turn pulls the larger loop tighter—but not too tight! Martingale collars are adjustable and shouldn’t tighten past the width of the dog’s neck. They offer comfortable security without harming your dog.

HOW DOES IT WORK

The larger loop is slipped onto the dog’s neck and a leash is then clipped to the smaller loop. When on a walk, if the dog moves in a way that could cause their collar to slip off, the tension on the leash pulls the small loop taut, which makes the large loop smaller and more secure on the dog’s neck, thus helping to prevent escape. 

Features both a D-ring on the martingale loop and a secondary clip point on the side of the collar for versatile leash attachment. Attach both for extra control, or use one for a lighter feel.
