Our Long Dog Lead is 5M in length and made of double sided neoprene making it a waterproof long dog lead. With a carabiner and soft handle, it is a lightweight long dog lead ideal for training dogs and puppies for recall training, or allowing dogs to roam in the outdoors, park or the beach, while still maintaining lead control. 

WHAT IS RECALL TRAINING & WHY IS IT IMPORTANT

Of all the basic obedience commands people teach their dogs, the recall – the ability to have your dog come to you on command – is by far the most important and often the most difficult to train.

A reliable recall, meaning your dog will come to you every time, has many benefits, which is made easier through the use of a long dog lead. It can be used in off-lead parks to avoid confrontations between dogs and can even be a life-saver in dangerous situations such as when your dog encounters traffic or snakes.

While the command and the anticipated response are relatively simple, it can take a while for the concept to set in and for your dog to learn to come to your command whether or not your dog is on a long dog lead.

Keep in mind that the idea of a long dog lead is to allow it to trail out behind your dog without your interference. Your dog needs to feel as though they are free to wander until they gets to the end of the line, at which point you should be commanding him to come/recall.
